Eczema and Psoriasis Herbal Remedy: Skin Cleanser

Skin Cleanser Herbal Formula for Eczema and Psoriasis

One of my favorite Chinese Herbal Formulas for the treatment of Eczema and Psoriasis is made by one of my esteemed herbal teachers, Dr. Huang, M.D. Dr. Huang was a professor of Herbal Medicine and Dermatology specialist in a hospital in China specializing in Skin Disorders.

Skin Cleanser is designed specifically for psoriasis, eczema, and other obstinate forms of dermatitis, using a combination of new, scientifically validated herbs for skin ailments, with a traditional formula that has been in use since the 2nd century.

It is thought that the herbs in this formula inhibit phagocytic function, affect specific humoral immunity, and reduce allergic reaction, all of which is to say that they inhibit excessive allergic reaction. This is of course very significant in that eczema is so closely tied to allergic response.

From a Chinese Medical perspective, this formula clears damp heat toxins from the body, while cooling and vitalizing the blood, and eliminating toxic "wind".

This formula is especially valuable when you have the damp heat type eczema or psoriasis, which will be red, with swelling , blisters, oozing sores, and itching . In addition there will typically be some other signs of damp heat, such as a slippery pulse reading, or a reddish swollen tongue with tooth marks and a yellowish or gray greasy coating.

A normal dosage of these capsules is 3-3x per day, but in severe cases we can go up to 5-3x/day. Once the lesions disappear, we can lower the dose, but to avoid recurrance, we take the herbs for three months; that ensures that all of the pathological damp and heat toxins are removed from the body.

Diet for Eczema and Psoriasis

During treatment of Damp Heat skin disorders, we want to avoid foods that increase dampness and heat in the body; so avoid ingesting
• alcohol
• peppers, chili, cayenne, hot sauce, spicy-hot food
• garlic, chives, ginger, onion
• coffee, chocolate, caffeine sodas
• deep-fried food
• crustaceans and mollusks (shell fish, oysters, clams, etc.)
• sugar and sugary sweets
• consider a gluten free diet, or at least go off wheat
• for psoriasis, go on a vegeterian diet
• avoid excessive creamy food and dairy

Conversely, we want to eat more foods that cleanse the body of toxic damp heat, including

• burdock root, dried as tea, fresh as a veggie
• freeze dried nettles, in capsule,
• all green leafy vegetables, except mustard green
• rice, barley, quinoa, taro
• coconut water is good in the hot weather

Caution:

In the beginning, these herbs might cause loose stool. This is normal reaction. Keep taking the herbs; bowel movements will return to normal in 2-3 days.
If intolerable, stop for a day, and start up again at a lower dose, gradually increasing to the desired dosage

A black discoloration of the skin around gold and silver jewelry is also normal. This sign of toxins exiting the skin will decrease over time as your condition improves.

Ingredients:

Astragalus Root, Honeysuckle Flower, Atractylodes Rhizome, Rehmannia Root, White and Red Peony root, Sophorae root, Similacis Rhizome, Cortex Dictamni, Cortex Phellodenri, Cicada Slough, and Rhubarb Root
